BOOKS & BRONCS LITERACY PROJECT

The Books & Broncs Literacy Project is intended to educate children in the community about The Homestead Rodeo while encouraging reading. Children from two local first grade classes begin by reading the book "Let's Rodeo!" written by associate member, Taylor Pearce. They then attend the literacy day at the rodeo grounds, the day before the rodeo weekend begins. These children get to learn about different events in the rodeo as well as general knowledge about horses. The South Florida Trail Riders work closely with the Homestead Rodeo Association to make this project happen every year. Taylor is an accomplished artist, who also painted the mural on the HRA office, at the release of "Let's Rodeo!"

Our Mission:

The Homestead Rodeo Association’s mission statement is to promote the sport of rodeo and other equestrian activities to benefit the Greater Homestead/Florida City community and support our youth through these activities. Our rodeo is the result of dedicated volunteers who have pooled their efforts to present the best possible event. These volunteers, who love rodeo and the traditions of our town, are part of the Homestead Rodeo Association.
